Accessibility on Lake Nipissing

Our wheelchair-accessible boat ensures more people can experience the water, the scenery, and the fishing that make Lake Nipissing and the French River special. Tell us what you need and we will set the boat and route up for you.

Accessible Marine Transport on Lake Nipissing

Lake Nipissing Outfitters operates a wheelchair-accessible boat designed for inclusive trips across Lake Nipissing and the Upper French River. Guided fishing charters, scenic boat tours, and water taxi services are all available with accessible transport. We work directly with each guest at booking to confirm boarding, seating, route, and any equipment needs. Our goal is simple: more people on the water, regardless of mobility.

One Boat. Built for Everyone.

Our primary vessel is a 26-foot aluminum landing craft powered by a 250 HP outboard, designed for stability, safety, and access to remote locations. The same boat that runs guided fishing charters and scenic tours is the boat we use for accessible trips. No compromise on group size, range, or capability.

  • Wheelchair-accessible vessel with crew assistance for boarding and disembarking
  • Stable, supported seating with space on board for mobility devices
  • Routes tailored to the guest: sheltered, calm-water bays or longer destinations based on comfort
  • Same passenger capacity: commercially registered for up to 9, so the whole group can come
  • SVOP-certified operator at the helm, with advanced GPS, sonar, and marine communications on board

What to Tell Us So We Can Set the Boat Up

The more we know up front, the better the trip. Share whatever applies. Nothing is too small.

Mobility devices

Wheelchair, scooter, walker, cane, or any other device coming aboard. Let us know dimensions if you have them.

Medical equipment

Oxygen, medication storage, or anything that needs to stay close, dry, and accessible during the trip.

Sensory considerations

Noise sensitivity, motion sensitivity, or anything that affects how the trip should be paced. We can choose calmer water and lower-engine routes.

Companion or support person

Tell us who is travelling with the guest so we can plan seating that keeps everyone close together.

Preferred route, pace, or stops

Sheltered bay, longer cruise, scenic stop, slow-and-steady, or full day. We plan the route around what the guest wants out of the trip.

Bathroom or break needs

Tell us at booking and we will plan stops at suitable locations on shore so no one is rushed or stuck.

Routes That Work Well for Accessible Trips

Sheltered bays close to our Callander dock are an easy starting point. Longer routes are available based on guest comfort and conditions.
