Who We Are
Lake Nipissing Outfitters is operated by Alan Juselius and based in Callander, Ontario, Canada. Our charter vessel is a commercially registered Canadian vessel, operated by a certified Small Vessel Operator (SVOP). We are fully licensed and insured for commercial passenger service under the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, and operate in compliance with the Class 2 inland waters requirements that apply to Lake Nipissing and the Upper French River.
Booking & Confirmation
- All trips require a booking inquiry submitted via the contact form, by phone, or by email.
- We will confirm availability and provide a quote within 24 hours.
- A trip is not booked until you receive written confirmation from us.
- A deposit may be required to hold the date.
Payment Terms
- Accepted methods: e-transfer, cash, or credit card (where applicable).
- Final payment is due before or at the time of the trip unless otherwise arranged.
- Equipment rentals may require a security deposit, refunded after gear return in good condition.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
- More than 7 days before the trip: full refund minus any deposit fees.
- 3 to 7 days before: 50% refund of the paid amount.
- Less than 72 hours: no refund except in cases of safety.
- We will work with you on rescheduling whenever possible.
Weather Policy
- Lake Nipissing weather can change quickly. Safety is the deciding factor.
- If we cancel due to unsafe weather, you will receive a full refund or be offered to reschedule at no penalty.
- If you cancel due to weather concerns and we determine conditions are safe, the regular cancellation policy applies.
Late Arrival
- Please arrive 15 to 30 minutes before your scheduled trip.
- Trips that start late due to your delay may be shortened to keep on schedule.
Age Requirements
- ATV rentals: minimum age 18, valid Ontario driver's licence required (single rider, no passengers).
- Boat rentals: minimum age 18, valid PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operator Card) required.
- Guided trips: children of all ages welcome with a guardian.
- Children 16 and under fish free on guided fishing trips.
Assumption of Risk
Outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, paddling, ATV riding, and remote travel, involve inherent risks of injury, illness, equipment failure, weather changes, and other unforeseeable hazards. By booking and participating in any trip, rental, or service:
- You acknowledge and accept these risks voluntarily.
- You agree that you are physically capable of participating safely.
- You confirm that any disclosed medical conditions have been considered.
- You agree to follow all safety instructions, wear required equipment, and respect the directions of the operator or guide.
Liability Waiver
To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, you waive and release Lake Nipissing Outfitters, its operators, employees, and affiliates from liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in our services, except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct. This waiver applies to you, your guests, and any minors in your care while participating in our trips, rentals, or related activities.
Required Behavior
- No alcohol or drug intoxication while operating equipment or on the water.
- Follow safety instructions at all times.
- Respect the environment, other guests, and Indigenous lands.
- Do not damage equipment or property. You may be responsible for repair costs.
Equipment Care & Damage
- You are responsible for rental equipment while it is in your possession.
- Reasonable wear and tear is expected.
- Lost, stolen, or significantly damaged equipment may incur replacement or repair fees, charged against the security deposit if held.
- Cleaning fees may apply if equipment returns excessively dirty.
Photo & Likeness
- We may take photographs or video during your trip for promotional use on our website, social media, or marketing materials.
- If you do not consent to being photographed, please tell us at the start of your trip and we will accommodate.
- Children's faces will be obscured by default in any public posting.
Accessibility
- Our wheelchair-accessible boat is available on request. Please tell us at booking so we can prepare the vessel and route.
- We accommodate a wide range of mobility, sensory, and cognitive needs. Tell us what you need.
Insurance
- We carry commercial passenger and liability insurance.
- You are responsible for your own personal insurance, including travel and medical insurance if visiting from outside Ontario.
Wildlife, Fish, and Habitat
- All Ontario fishing regulations apply, including required fishing licences. We can help you understand requirements, but you are responsible for compliance.
- Catch-and-release is required on the backcountry largemouth bass adventure.
- Do not disturb nests, dens, or sensitive shoreline habitat.
Governing Law & Disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
- Any disputes will first be resolved by good-faith discussion.
- If unresolved, the parties may seek mediation, then formal arbitration in North Bay, Ontario.
Severability
If any clause of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining clauses remain in full effect.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of our services after a change indicates acceptance of the new terms.
